I went out to pick up hand soap and toilet paper today and found this lovely eye makeup from Urban Decay. I am always looking for neutrals that I can wear for running errands or shopping. This should do the trick! K see you around super market.

Small Pleasures

Today I visited Petite Sweets and had some tiny treats, a cake ball, tiny cupcake and lemon macaroon. Just the right size actually and full of flavor, I think all the cupcake shops need to get with the program! This way we can have our cake and eat it too ;)

Something new

I love Monday's! Always seems like a good day to start something new or start over. This week will be super busy but I am challenging myself to make *one* good home cooked meal (i.e. tacos or burgers do not count). I was inspired by Gwyneth Paltrow's cookbook, My Father's Daughter. I admit I was drawn by the bright cover :) but the recipes sound interesting and some are surprisingly simple. Every journey starts with a single step!  Let see how this goes.

Fall is here!

In Houston that means it is not 100 degrees! I love this time of the year because it puts me in such a different mood. I am thinking about knitting, hot chocolate (abuelita is my fav), cute jackets and scarfs. Today i wore my favorite scarf from J.Crew with a white t-shirt and army green cargo pants and voila someone told me i looked 'geat'. It's an instant wardrobe upgrade. Throw one on and pretend you are walking really fast to some amazing bistro on the Rue de Rivoli :)  Scarfs a little scary? See this tutorial. I fell in love with this poof walking down a different rue. I think i'll knit a mini poof : )

have a lovely weekend xoxo

A little pop of color

I love unexpected pops of color in a design scheme. I was looking through an old design folder from I room I was redoing a couple of years ago and found a magazine page (above) from Elle Decoration (the UK version) with a bright yellow chair in an otherwise neutral room (see my i heart note to the decorator :)  Clearly I love this design element, the yellow lanterns have the same effect. They were outside a store in Haarlem an hour away from Amsterdam. Below is a color palette I selected for a sewing project I am working on. Look a little familiar? Total coincidence!  I love yellow and pink! What does your favorite colors say about you? Take the quiz :)

Beautiful Prints

I have been looking for inspiration for some sewing projects and today I was taken by this gorgeous print by Nancy Ramirez. You can find her work on Cozamia. How amazing would this be as a quilt or pillow! It's a little variation on the traditional zig-zag pattern. I love the variation in white space. If you are ever looking for inspiration you must visit decor8blog, where i found this artist. She has a fabulous eye for everything.
P.S. Add something beautiful to your life today! Doesn't have to be a fabulous piece of art. Take a little note someone you love gave u and frame it. My most precious note starts off with ... "my sweet gabby" :)

I am back from The Sewing Summit where I met the most amazing sewist girls, had a great time and came home with a ton of pretty fabric and the most amazing mini-quilt made by Kelley from Kelbysews.  It is so bright and chreery! I am inspired and ready to tackle my wonderful todo list from classes/tutorials at the summit:
